Marvel's Impact on Pop Culture

Captain America, Iron-man, the Incredible Hulk, and Thor; these are all name that mostly everyone has heard of. Whether you are a fan or not, these names have probably been heard of on several occasions. This is because of the huge and continuously growing popularity of the Marvel Universe. With movies such as spider-man and all the Avengers movies being produced, the fan base is growing and these names have become very common household names. Every time you turn around you see some Marvel movie being released into theaters or on to DVD. All of the names are ones that kids and adults alike have come to know and love.

The Marvel writers wanted to create heroes that readers and viewers could relate to, characters that people could look up. But they also created them with meaning. In the Marvel film Captain America, the First Avenger, The most pure hearted young man named Steve Rogers was selected to become the first American super soldier. He was created and written to be not only a strong soldier or a good man, rather he was created to be a symbol of hope. Captain America was created during WWII as a symbol of patriotism and hope to show that the people were strong.

The Marvel Universe has come a long way since their beginning in 1939. The impact of the marvel universe on pop culture has been impeccable and is continuing to grow in the current Marvel Cinematic Revolution.

Technology and Social Skills

It seems that in pop culture today, life revolves around technology. We use our phones every second of everyday, or we are constantly glued to the television or video games. In all honesty, the use of technology is started to become a dangerous habit. This is leading to several issues. One of these being lack of social skills.

Because of technology, a person doesn't even have to leave there house to have a full on in depth conversation with someone. Now why is this a bad thing? Well because without having an up close and personal conversation with a person face to face, one begins to forget how they are supposed to act in front of others. This could easily lead to lack of social skill and other social habits.

In other words, although television and the next Iphone are pretty cool and useful, just try putting them down for a little while and remember what its like to talk to a human being and refresh your true, nontechnological social skills.

Animal Adoption

Animal adoption is a wonderful thing. Giving a lonely sheltered dog or cat a chance to experience a loving family. When a person adopts an animal from a shelter, a life is being saved. Now how is that a life is being saved? Well because of the thousands of strays brought into shelters a day, the shelters run out of room to house the animals brought to the shelter. As thousands of animals are being brought into the shelter, thousands of the currently residing animals are being euthanized, or put down. This is what many shelters must do to make room for incoming stray animals such as cats, dogs, birds, and more.

Adopting an animal can bring a person great amounts of joy and it is proven that dogs adopted from animal shelters become extremely attached to those who adopt them. Bonds can be formed that can last for years to come for those who adopt shelter animals. So when the idea of getting a pet comes to mind, think shelter adoption as the first choice. Not only can a person make a loyal friend, but they can save a life in the process and give an animal a new and joyful beginning.

Are We Really that Different?

It seems that today people always tend to look at what a person is wearing to try and figure out who a person is. Now whether a person dresses to impress or rather to fit in with a group, or just to dress for comfort. Based on the Old Navy article, it seems that they distribute clothes that all look the same. In their defense, most people do not look at this in the eyes that everyone buys these clothes to look alike. People dress in ways that they do because its what they feel comfortable in. Whether it be comfortable with the way they look or the way they feel. Although people dress to feel comfortable, some dress to fit in or to be a part of the crowd. In the Old Navy article, they discuss how all people who shop at Old Navy are very cookie cutter and all want to dress exactly the same.

Now on that note, why should it matter how people decide to dress? Retail stores such as Old Navy and Ikea have all the right in the world to distribute what they want. They are not pulling customers in through some for of black magic and by any kind of lies and tricks. Old Navy's products are placed out in stores for everyone to see with a variety of options for customers to choose from. This is why it is hard to believe that the Old Navy corporation is hard to believe to have turned all of their  customers into mindless zombies. People try to blend, dress for comfort, and dress to fit in. Old Navy makes it possible for people to do so and their isn't anything wrong with that.http://www.couponing101.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/old-navy-logo.jpg

The Loss of Meaning: Tattoos Today

Culture and religion used to be recorded through markings on the skin. Markings known as tattoos. Tattoos could represent anything from a connection to a deity, or something such as a right of passage in some cultures. That was up until tattoos become a common part of body art in society today.
Tattoos used to have such meaning, and now they are something that people go out and get on a drunk Friday night as a next morning regret. People do not have to have a meaning to get inked anymore. Meaning has nearly stampeded out the door when it comes to tattoos. Though people still get tattoos with deep meaning, or the loss of loved ones; many just do it because they can. This is a mistake people make because they do not thing, and just do. This results in a permanent mistake.
The art of tattoos used to have so much more meaning than they currently do. People now get tattoos to be like their favorite rock and roll band members or to have a fashionable connection to others around them. The deep meanings that were once chiseled in to a persons skin are now just simple ways of self expression. Culture and religious influence hardly still have meaning tattoos anymore.

Ringers: The Age of Tolkien

For every book series, movie series, comic book series, and many other forms of entertainment, there are fans that follow them. You have your Star Wars fans, your Marvel Universe fans, and more; But in this cluster of fan based groups, you have what are called "Ringers." This would become the true name, for all of the fans who love and admire the great and historical works of J.R.R Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien had created an entire world to his liking. He created languages, races, social classes, conflict, love, and so much more and tasked himself with this as his life's greatest works. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings novels were tremendously popular when first released, not as three books as they are today, but as six separate parts to a whole. The popularity for these great works of siege grew at a rapid pace. The novels became very influential to readers as Tolkien transformed his ideas into great works of mastery.

The Birth of the Avengers Initiative On the Big Screen

Over the past few  years the industry of motion picture and the world of comic books has come into a clash with one another with the making of the Avenger Initiative. The beloved comic series has been largely expanded by the making of the cinematic versions of each book. Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Captain America, are comic book icons that readers fell in love with the moment they were written into the heroes they are today.

Each of these characters was given a movie to help the viewers who have had no past knowledge of the comic book heroes better understand just who the characters really are. Taking each of these characters and putting them all in one comic as a super alliance was one thing, but with director Joss Whedon's higher aspirations for the world of Marvel's  comics, this team would be transported out of the comics into the world of motion picture. The marvel of the Marvel comics coming to the big screen acted as a re-awakening of the world of comics. The Avengers series has already produced eight movies so far and the directors and producers claim they haven't even began to make a dent in the works yet to be produced from the Avengers series.

With Avengers two in the making, fans can hardly wait for their new love for these modernized comic book heroes to return to the big screen in the near future. Joss Whedon's work on the Avenges movies has re-kindled the fire that once was, the comic book.
